An illustration for City Lore — an NYC-based organization that strives to promote and celebrate urban folk culture. The project’s mission was to craft a piece for any location in the Lower East Side of Manhattan that holds historical, cultural, and/or personal significance.
Dating back to 1920, and after undergoing only minor changes, Chinatown’s Nom Wah Tea Parlor remains a neighborhood staple, serving impeccable dim sum in an iconic vintage setting. Its old but timeless decor, delicious food, and hospitable employees continue the return of generations of Chinese families, along with the welcome of many tourists and dim-sum lovers alike (aka me)!
